Backyard Burgers, Quezon City

Note: This restaurant is already closed.

I went on another burger trip with my high school friends at a small restaurant located in the heart of Quezon City called Backyard Burgers.

When I heard that this place opened, I first thought that it was the Manila branch of Backyard Burgers in Davao, but it isn't.

The whole place is quite small and shares its alfresco area with the kebab resto beside it.

I arrived while the rest of the group was finishing Nachos, so I ordered an additional Cheesy Fries (Php 95).

Cheesy Fries

I like my fries as sloppy as possible and this one passed my standards.

Backyard Burgers proudly declares that they bake their own hoagie burger buns and create their own ice cream for the milkshakes.

My friend, who frequents the place, went basic with Backyard Cheeseburger, available in 3 patty sizes: Supreme (1/3 lb, Php 145), Extreme (1/2 lb, Php 195) and Obscene (1 lb, Php 350).

One of us ordered the Heart Attack (Php 245), and I got Truffle Burger (Php 245).

Heart Attack
Truffle Burger

Heart Attack is 1/2 lb beef patty topped with crispy pork belly, cheese sauce, and cheddar cheese, while Truffle Burger is 1/2 lb mozzarella-stuffed beef patty with truffle shiitake mushrooms and cheddar cheese. My friends wolfed down their burgers so I wasn't able to try it, however, I liked how the taste of the truffle enhanced the flavor of the beef patty. I appreciated that the meat had no extenders, with mozzarella and cheddar added, but the beef was somehow under-seasoned and a bit dry for me.

I also tried their Chocolate Milkshake (Php 95), to go with my burger.

Chocolate Milkshake

Not as thick as I expected, but good enough for the price.

What's nice about this place is that you can cross-order from the kebab resto beside it, making it convenient for my friend who was not in a mood for burgers.

However, Backyard Burgers also serves Beef Belly Cheese Steak, Chick-N-Cheese, and Something Fishy.

I liked the laid-back vibe of Backyard Burgers, and I did appreciate their homemade hoagie buns and pure beef patties. However, I think they should improve the flavor of their beef patties. Maybe it was just me or my burger stayed a bit longer on the grill.

Will I go back? Maybe, to try their other burgers, but I do hope my experience would be better next time.

  1. So there are two Backyard Burgers and they're not affiliated? I wonder if the owners of those two are aware of the fact.

  2. OMG, I think I want a Heart Attack! But, their burgers seem burnt, (or are those just shadows?)

    1. Maybe I just set my expectations too high, but I do hope they'll improve.
