Chowdown Cebu: Da Vinci's Pizza

Note: This location is already closed.  My friend and I were too lazy to go out for dinner so we decided to have food delivered to our hotel. We saw Da Vinci's Pizza when we had dinner at Krua Thai so we gave it a try. Da Vinci's Pizza is one of the popular pizza restaurants in Cebu. They are also famous for their white sauce pizzas. Their items are quite affordable too.

A Simple Lesson from Cinnabon

Let me share with you a little story on how Cinnabon reminded me that sometimes happiness comes in small packages, or sometimes, it comes for free. :)

Photo Album 09: Revisits

It's been a while since I posted random photos, and here's what I got these past few months. These photos are dishes from restos that I previously reviewed and really loved. I hope you're having a nice weekend! Hainanese Chicken from Nasi Lemak Superior Potato & Egg Salad from Yabu Maple Bacon Pancakes from Sebastian's Ice Cream

Chowdown Cebu: Krua Thai

Update: Krua Thai is rebranded to Siam by Krua Thai Since we stayed at Crown Regency Mactan , we had lots of time to explore the restaurants around Lapu-Lapu City. We were able to explore some foodie places at Mactan Marina Mall, which is a cab or jeepney ride away from the hotel. We were looking around Marina Mall for a place where we could have dinner when Krua Thai caught my eye. Yeah, I was craving Thai food for quite a while so this is such a good timing. Krua Thai is a spacious restaurant with beautiful Thai-inspired decorations. The friendly staff will greet you in Thai (a phrase that I forgot) as you enter. As I've noticed, most customers are tourists, since the Mactan Marina Mall is also a multicab ride away from the airport.

2012 Book Challenge: September

The game is still on! Like last month, I completed 4 books. I'm quite positive that I could finish 40 books by the end of this year. Yey! As a continuation of my August post , here are my September books: 27. It's Not That Complicated by Eros Atalia The second part of Atalia's book "Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me", focuses on Intoy's life after graduation, and after Jen. While he's trying to adjust with his work (his sarcastic but witty humor still gets him into trouble), he's also trying to forget Jen. And he meets Tina, the company's HR officer, who suddenly gave him unusual attention. Will Tina be the solution to make Intoy finally forget Jen? Or add to his misery? You must read the book to find out.

The Lobby Lounge at Diamond Hotel (Part 2)

Aside from the savory dishes we had at Lobby Lounge, Diamond Hotel , we were also able to try the delicious desserts and beverages. A self-confessed dessert freak and coffee addict, I was so excited to try almost every dessert they offer. These desserts are also available at The Cake Club with locations at Bonifacio High Street and Rockwell, and now you can enjoy these popular pastries if you're in the Diamond Hotel area (or maybe staying there as a guest).

The Lobby Lounge at Diamond Hotel (Part 1)

I was recently invited by Diamond Hotel to try their newest dining attraction, the Lobby Lounge. The Lobby Lounge exudes luxury with its contemporary interiors that are stylish and inviting, complemented by a delectable and upscale selection of culinary offers. The Lobby Lounge offers Diamond Hotel's bestselling cakes, pastries, and an updated a la carte menu selection.  Enjoy a cup of Kohikan or Nespresso coffee or Hediard Tea over these delicious dishes.

The Sandwich Guy

The Sandwich Guy has always been my go-to place whenever I need to eat something quick to fill me up while I'm at work or when I want something I could eat while walking. I love their baked potatoes, which I usually buy for breakfast or lunch. TSG is a quick-serve stall that serves made-to-order whole wheat sandwiches, pasta , and baked potatoes. Though their packaging is usually for take-away, some branches have tables and chairs for dine-in, like their SM Megamall branch.

Tamagoya! Noodle House

My visit to Tamagoya is quite significant to me since this is where I experienced my two firsts: my first Ramen and my first Antipolo food trip. Though I love Japanese food , I'm more of a sushi-katsu-and-tempura person, but I was willing to explore more of the cuisine. I live in Rizal, but I haven't really tried exploring the foodie places around the area. Good thing I have foodie friends who also live in Rizal and are willing to introduce me to spots I haven't visited before. I recently had dinner-slash-bonding with Ate Miriam , who won my King Bee giveaway . She suggested that we have dinner at Tamagoya since I haven't been there before. Tamagoya! Noodle House is a small restaurant tucked at the border of Marikina and Antipolo City. The Japanese-owned place serves authentic ramen, rice toppings, and other Japanese side dishes at really affordable prices (compared to other popular ramen joints). The resto has two floors: the second floor is usually

Mmmmmm....Quiznos!

Note: This restaurant is already closed.  If you've been reading this blog for quite a while, you would notice that I don't have many posts from restos around The Fort area. It's because I rarely visit the area. But when I do, I make sure my visit would be worth it. I recently went to The Fort with a fellow foodie, KC , to the newly-opened restaurant chain Quiznos. Quiznos is an American quick-serve chain known for serving toasted subs or submarine sandwiches. Their Fort branch is their flagship store in the country, and they're opening more branches around the metro soon. How do you order a sub?

Crave and Win at Julie's Bakeshop

For over 30 years, Filipino households have enjoyed heartwarming treats from Julie’s Bakeshop. Both young and old have grown accustomed to hot-off-the-oven breads and delightful pastries that Julie’s Bakeshop has been providing  through its more than 500 neighborhood branches. To show utmost gratitude to its loyal customers who have made it the country’s number one bakeshop, Julie’s Bakeshop offers its patrons a chance to win loads of prizes and surprises with “Julie’s Bakeshop Combonanza Raffle Promo”.

Quick Delivery: Almon Marina

We usually associate food deliveries with JUST pizza . period. But at this age, we can enjoy our restaurant favorites at the comforts of our own homes..or office! That is how convenient the service of Quick Delivery is. Quick Delivery partners with different establishments and delivers to various points around the Metro. :) I first tried Quick Delivery last year, when I had an Avocado Cake from Lia's Cakes in Season, which cut me a trip to Kapitolyo. I recently had lunch delivered from Almon Marina. Almon Marina is a sandwich bar and deli, but also offers other continental dishes.

Kimbap Cheonguk

Note: Kimbap Cheonguk rebranded to Mandu Heaven After more than a month, the PEx Gluttony Society met up again for a wonderful dinner at a Korean hole-in-the-wall resto called Kimbap Cheonguk ("Kimbap Heaven" in Korean). It's quite difficult to look for the place since the sign is in Korean. You wouldn't even think that it's actually a Korean resto.   inside Kimbap Cheonguk The place is a small eatery, no frills whatsoever. Just a few tables and chairs and a small TV. This is my exact definition of "hole-in-the-wall". Good thing I got there early since customers, both Filipinos and Koreans, start to fill the place.

Chowdown Cebu: Zubuchon

Note: This location moved across Mactan Marina Mall.  To start our Mactan food trip, we went to one of the must-try foodie spots in Cebu : ZUBUCHON!!! :) Zubuchon is not just one of the many Lechon Cebu places as Mr. Anthony Bourdain (of "No Reservations") called their lechon "The Best Pig Ever"! I've brought CnT Lechon to Manila during my previous Cebu trip , I haven't eaten Cebu Lechon for dine-in and this was my chance. What's nice about Zubuchon is that their lechon is available anytime, unlike other lechon restos that run out especially during peak hours. Inside Zubuchon

Where to Stay in Cebu (Part 2): Crown Regency Suites Mactan

During our recent Cebu trip, we decided to spend 2 nights at Cebu City and 2 nights at Lapu-Lapu City. From Fuente Oro Business Suites , we transferred to Crown Regency Suites & Residences Mactan. To avoid confusion, there are three Crown Regency hotels in Cebu: Crown Regency Hotels and Towers - Cebu (famous for the Sky Adventure), Crown Regency Residences Guadalupe, and Crown Regency Suites & Residences Mactan. Crown Regency Suites & Residences Mactan is located at Lapu-Lapu City and near the airport. We bought vouchers for a 2-night stay from Metrodeal for Php 2580 a night for a one-bedroom suite. Here's a little story: when we arrived at the hotel to check-in, we were told by the staff that they'll be transferring us to Crown Regency Towers (in Cebu City) for some unacceptable reasons. My friend and I really thought that they overbooked since it was the Ironman weekend. After an hour of arguing and waiting at the lobby, they gave us our room anyway.

Cafe Bola

Note: This restaurant is already closed.  Before my friend and I entered the Araneta Coliseum to watch the Maroon 5 concert , I suggested that we have a light dinner first. Almost all restos were full, glad I found seats at Cafe Bola.  Cafe Bola is owned by renowned chef Margarita Fores, who also owns Italian restaurant Cibo. Cafe Bola offers comfort food like pasta, rice toppings, and sandwiches with modern Filipino twist at reasonable prices. This small resto's design and decors are mostly circles, it was named "bola", after all. :) Our table has a 9-ball billiard ball design while the ceiling is decorated with circles too! However, the lighting was too yellowish, hence my food photos were yellowish too. :(
