When Coffee and Soy Collides

Note: This location is already closed.  My college friends and I stopped over Eton Centris for a nightcap. Since the coffee shops are full, we ended up at Soya Bar. Soya Bar offers soy-based drinks and healthy meals, so most people in the place are people coming from the gym nearby. Hot Taho (no sago, sorry. :P) While I asked my friends to grab me a Hot Taho (Php 30 for 8 oz), they ordered Soya Fruity Frost in Mango (Php 99) and Lychee Burst (Php 89).

Tipsy Pig at Capitol Commons

I went for a night out with PEx Gluttony Society one fine evening at Capitol Commons, and since we have been curious with Tipsy Pig for the longest time, we agreed to try it out.  Tipsy Pig Gastropub opened late last year and has been drawing crowds every night. We almost didn't get a table since I forgot to reserve, but gladly, one person in our group is quite early that we had a nice spot for dinner.

Enchanted Kingdom's 7D Interactive Motion Theater!

Summer is the perfect time to go out and bond with family and friends. One of the popular places to go to this season is the  Enchanted Kingdom . With my foodie friend, Jeng , I went back to childhood once more by exploring what the park has to offer.  My friend Jeng and I walked around the park under the basking heat and tried some rides and arcade games. :p Who wouldn't love Space Shuttle, Rialto Theater in 3D, Jungle Log Jam, Rio Grande Rapids, EKstreme Tower Ride, and Disk-O-Magic?

B & P, Revisited

Note: This restaurant is already closed.  I went back to B&P with a good friend a few months after I first visited this lovely all-day breakfast place in Shaw Boulevard.  While waiting for our orders, we had their signature drinks: Lemon Celery Pandan (Php 110) for me, and Strawberry Lemon Quench (Php 110) for my friend. I love their Lemon Celery Pandan, but my friend found her drink a bit too sweet.

What's New with Yabu

Yabu has always been one of my favorite destinations for comfort food. Throughout the years, Yabu has maintained the quality of their katsu and their heart-warming service. I have always admired them for that.  I recently visited Yabu with a friend to try their newest dishes.  As always, we had appetizers: the newest appetizer, Chicken Salad, and my new favorite, Iidako Salad.

Photo Album 12: Sweetness

Everybody needs sweetness.  Much as I love eating desserts or anything sweet, I love taking photos of them as well. Though it's been years since I started blogging, it was only recently that I got formal training in photography. And my favorite subject? Desserts! I'm still a work-in-progress and I still have to take more lessons, but here are some of the photos I took that really liked.  My high school friend Fe-An and I met last month after not seeing each other for quite a long time. She got me these Kit Kats from her recent trip to Japan. I still have to figure out the flavors, but I liked the Blueberry Cheesecake flavor so far.  Nestle Ice Cream sent me tubs of their new ice cream flavor, Dutch Speculoos. I thought that my friends and I would have a hard time finishing two tubs of ice cream, but I was wrong. It wasn't even enough! This is a lovely summer treat. Go grab one now. :) Though not the fluffiest pancakes I've tried, Ka

Afters Espresso & Desserts

After our dinner at RUB Ribs & BBQ , I insisted that we go somewhere else more spacious and more peaceful for a nightcap, and we headed out to this lovely cafe aptly-named Afters . :) This place is a coffee-and-dessert junkie's heaven. On display were delicious-looking cakes, gelato that they make in-house, and a lovely display of coffee beans from different regions around the world. To not order a drip coffee at Afters seemed like committing a mortal sin.

Cafe de Bonifacio, Revisited

Note: This restaurant is already closed.  I brought my college friends for a reunion lunch at The Podium, and because we only have limited time to do so, I suggested that we eat somewhere familiar: Cafe de Bonifacio .  It's been a long time since I last dined at Cafe de Bonifacio so I was really excited to finally eat there again.  While waiting for our food, we enjoyed the free appetizer, Kropek with Pesto along with our coolers: Ripe Mango Shake, Cucumber and Lemon Cooler, and Watermelon Shake (Php 75).  Ripe Mango, Cucumber and Lemon, Watermelon

8 Cuts Burger Blends

Note: This location is already closed.  From my amazing experience at BurgerBar , I decided to bring my friends to its brother resto in UP Town Center: 8 Cuts Burger Blends . The menu of 8 Cuts is similar to BurgerBar except for the 8th meat blend, which is the oxtail.  From the entrance, you can watch the guys grind, blend meats into burger patties. Glad the guys aren't so camera-shy so I happily took photos of them. :P

New Discovery: D' Salas Leche Flan

A workmate has introduced this popular fastfood chain's secret: D'Salas Leche Flan .  Located somewhere in Manila, D' Salas Leche Flan has been known to be the leche flan supplier for Chowking's Halo-Halo. I wasn't aware of this fact until my workmate brought a box of leche flan for us to try.  The leche flan is carefully sealed in plastic and placed in a box. The syrup wouldn't spill easily if the package is handled well.

RUB Ribs & BBQ

I had a ribs dinner again with my high school friends, but this time, we visited RUB Ribs & BBQ .  RUB has always been in my "so-near-yet-so-far" list. The closest branch to my office, the Kapitolyo branch, is raved upon by my work colleagues but I haven't had a chance to visit it. That's why when my friends invited me to the QC branch, I flew as quickly as I could.  The QC branch gets full quickly, as we had to wait outside the restaurant. It was nice of them to set up chairs while waiting though.  The second floor is the main dining area, where it could accommodate 20 people. Tables are also available on the ground floor and outside.  We ordered the Family Brunch (Php 685) which includes 3 sides: Roasted Garlic Mashed Potato, Grilled Buttered Corn and Garlic Spinach & Mushroom.  Family Bunch

Treasure Found at Tonkatsuya

Searching for Tonkatsuya seemed like a treasure hunt for my friend and I. Located in a residential area in Makati,  it took us a lot of patience -- and a lot of help from Google maps -- to get to our dinner place.  Tonkatsuya is a small Japanese katsu restaurant that has been serving katsu for years, even before katsu restaurants like Yabu opened.

Kanto Freestyle Breakfast

"Are you sure you want to eat here?" My companion asked me as soon as we arrived in front of Kanto Freestyle Breakfast after almost dragging us to this place. He doesn't understand the enthusiasm I was feeling as I was looking at the menu like a kid standing in front of Disneyland.  Kanto Freestyle Breakfast isn't really about the ambiance, but more about meticulously-prepared yet affordable breakfast food. It is no wonder this place has successfully branched out to Kapitolyo and Eastwood.  Aside from the tables in front of the counter, they also have some tables a few steps away from the main store.  We ordered my favorite Filipino breakfast: Batangas Beef Tapa (Php 90), served with 2 eggs freestyle, garlic rice, and tomato pesto.
