Yabu has always been one of my favorite destinations for comfort food. Throughout the years, Yabu has maintained the quality of their katsu and their heart-warming service. I have always admired them for that.
I recently visited Yabu with a friend to try their newest dishes.
As always, we had appetizers: the newest appetizer, Chicken Salad, and my new favorite, Iidako Salad.
Chicken Salad |
The Chicken Salad is served chilled with chunks of chicken and a hint of wasabi. I liked that it's light and quite healthy. Another must-try appetizer is the Iidako Salad, which is baby octopus and cucumber slices in a sweet sauce. Sorry, I'm not sharing this salad. I really love it!
For the katsu, I had their newest katsu set: Kurobuta Oroshi Katsu Set (Php 595), while my friend had Hire Miso Katsu Set (Php 360).
Oroshi Katsu |
Oroshi Katsu is katsu topped with grated radish and spring onions served with ponzu-based sauce and a slice of grapefruit. To fully enjoy this katsu set, squeeze the grapefruit on the katsu and pour the ponzu sauce.
It doesn't really need katsu sauce as the radish and ponzu sauce totally enhances the flavor of the katsu yet makes it refreshing. You can also order Oroshi Katsu in Hire, Rosu, and Chicken.
Hire Miso Katsu |
For something sweet, I recommend the Miso Katsu Set. Served on a Japanese hot plate, the katsu is generously topped with miso sauce, spring onions, and ground sesame seeds. How to enjoy it better? Mix in some miso sauce with rice. :P
You can order Miso Katsu in Kurobuta, Hire, and Rosu.
More reasons to keep on coming back to Yabu. Anyone who wants to join me? :)
Thanks to Erika Lim for having us.

My first trip to Yabu hasn't been repeated, not that I didn't want to, I just didn't have time. I'm waiting for the opening of their Glorietta branch so I don't have to go far. I am curious about the lidako salad, it reminds me of Korean side dishes.
ReplyDeleteHi Marge! Yabu has opened in Glorietta na. :)

DeleteThose appetizers are new to me, I will try them next time! We usually go to Yabu Robinsons Magnolia when our cook takes the day off. I usually just order their Hire katsu.
