Hello Vikings!

One of my closest friends, Jeo, was bugging me for weeks to give Vikings a try. I was honestly surprised, really, because Jeo is not exactly the most generous guy I know. Well, let's say that I will emulate his frugality should I someday practice "extreme saving". :P

Little did I know that he was dragging me there because he'll be leaving for Singapore. :( *sniff sniff*

It is my cardinal rule to call for reservations, especially for buffets. However, our reservations were only until after 6PM. We arrived late, almost around 8PM (blame it on the freakin' traffic). Fortunately, we were given a table as soon as we arrived.

Appetizer section

First impression: overwhelming!!!

Having tried a good number of buffets, I didn't expect that Vikings would be this bountiful, with sections from end-to-end of the whole place. It is an advantage that I wore my sneakers at that time, I happily ran around to check everything they have to offer.

I loaded my first plate with the appetizers.

my first plate

I had nachos, quiche, potato salad and other appetizers I forgot the names. I was trying to phase my dinner so I wouldn't get full, but then I saw the sushi and felt defeated.

My second plate was devoted to sushi.

my second plate

I had California Maki, Philadephia Roll, Fruiti Roll, and Mango Roll. I was amazed at how quick I finished it. Everything was just delicious!

My third plate was also a favorite: Ebi Tempura!

third plate: Ebi Tempura!

Please don't judge me here. I actually offered some tempura to my friends. :) Ebi Tempura section gets empty fast, I was lucky to have seen the freshly-cooked batch first.

My fourth plate was a little messy, my apologies.

my fourth plate

I had some dimsum, okonomiyaki, baby back ribs, and roasted beef with truffle sauce. The only downside here was the roasted beef was well-done, I prefer medium-rare. But other than that, I have no qualms about this plate.

Desserts section!
crepe station

My fifth and sixth plates were devoted to desserts. By this time, I was too full to even ransack the whole desserts section. haha.

my fifth plate

I got creme brulee and chocolate mousse. Both weren't too sweet, which I liked, because my last plate was very, very sweet.

my sixth plate: mango crepe

I had mango crepe with vanilla ice cream on the side. The chef had already put chocolate syrup inside the crepe, but I asked her to still put more chocolate syrup on top. I'm a happy kid. :)

And oh, Vikings buffet includes unlimited drinks, including soda (I had root beer for this dinner), Twinings iced tea, fruit juices, and believe it or not, draft beers, sake, and brewed coffee.

Draft beers for the boys!
my usual: coffee! <3

It was an awesome dinner with really good friends. It was bittersweet that a close friend is leaving, but I was happy that he's on his way to being independent, and hopefully, a little less kuripot. Hurray that I now have somebody to harass if ever I visit Singapore, hahaha!

There are other sections that I wasn't able to try, like the seafood station, hotpot station, grilling station, and many more. A visit just isn't enough for me to try everything that another visit should be scheduled for the soonest. :)

  4. Wow you ate a lot. How in the world did you finish all three desserts? I'm not sure if I like the presentation of their sashimi though. I don't think the raw fish head is an appetizing sight.

Oh, the raw fish is whole at the start of the dinner service. We arrived a little late hence it was already cut. :)
