Persia Grill

Note: This location is already closed.

It's been a while since I ate kebab, which I love dearly. Good thing a dinner treat for Persian food was offered by an old friend, and I'm not stupid to decline the offer.

I have never tried Persia Grill before, but I frequent Cafe Mediterranean (my favorite), Uncle Moe's and Kebabers (a food stall) for my kebab cravings.

We had dinner at Persia Grill SM Megamall, which is located along Julia Vargas. The entrance is outside the mall.

I like the design and ambiance of the place, and the cushioned seats.

My friend insisted on ordering salad (though I was keen on not ordering salad, because I know how 'heavy' kebab is), and so we ordered Shirazi (Php 180, to share)

Shirazi

Shirazi is letture, cucumber, tomato, onion, carrots with lemon and olive oil. Sliced grapes are mixed in, which made the salad a bit sweet. The 'to share' salad was overwhelming, I think 3-5 persons can share it.

For the main course, I ordered Chelo Kebab Barg (Php 295)

Chelo Kebab Barg is grilled beef tenderloin with Basmati rice and grilled tomatoes.

My friend ordered Chelo Kebab Makhsos (Php 295)

Let me share with you the good and bad points of Persia Grill:

Good points:
- The staff would ask you whether you'd like the kebab to be well done or not.
- The salad tastes good and was very presentable.
- No service charge (though this should not be an excuse for bad service)
- Yummy yogurt dip

Bad points:
- The kebab was grilled unevenly. There are charred parts on my kebab. This must be a good thing for some, but for me it's not.
- The service was lousy. We have to wait for somebody to come out from the kitchen to get our orders.
- The guy who got our orders didn't warn us that the salad is too much for the two of us.
- The kebab was not tender. I had a hard time cutting my kebab into bite sizes. Maybe the kebab was not marinated for a long time.

Overall, Persia Grill is not a good experience for me. Considering the price, I'd rather go somewhere else with good service. Kian Kazemi (former PBB housemate and owner of the Persia Grill) must train his staff about customer service.

Food is authentic Persian food. However, the quality of the food and customer service is part of the package.
