Primero Casa Filipino

Note: This restaurant is already closed.

It was a rainy weekend when my foodie friends and I got to try this Filipino buffet resto called Primero Casa Filipino. The weather was so awful I thought I'd be late. But the weather didn't stop me nor affect my mood because I was excited to try this resto.

Primero Casa Filipino is a Filipino buffet restaurant, events venue and bar near Tomas Morato area. Formerly known as Chef Laudico Casa Filipino, they have since changed management and improved their offerings.

I was quite surprised on how spacious this resto is. It has numerous private function rooms and even a bar for drinking parties. And yes, the former ancestral house is really classy.

The buffet spread has really good selections - from soups, salads, appetizers, main dishes to desserts.

Fresh Lumpia Shooters
Tomato and Pesto Pizza

I was kinda hungry so I forgot to take a photo of my first plate. I got the Sisig Shooters (first photo above), which sits on top of fried wanton wrappers placed on top of a shot glass. Inside the shot glasses is the soy sauce for you to put into the Sisig Shooter. I love the amount of spiciness of the Sisig Shooter. I also liked the Fresh Lumpia Shooters since I'm a huge fan of lumpiang  ubod. The peanut sauce is spectacular.

Roasted Angus Beef
Cebu Lechon Pork Belly

Primero Casa Filipino boasts specialty dishes that anyone would love. I particularly loved their Cebu Lechon Pork Belly (it was named labelled "Zubuchon" but it was made in house. They aren't connected with Zubuchon in Cebu), Roasted Angus Beef and Angus Kare-Kare. They also have Steamed Fish, Chili Crabs, and Steamed Shrimps for the seafood lovers.

My second plate: Roasted Angus Beef, Cebu Lechon Pork Belly, Mixed Veggies, Angus Kare-Kare and Fried Rice

I'm a huge carnivore that I forgot trying the seafood dishes. :| I also stole some Spareribs from Eugene's plate, which I also liked. It reminds me of what my mom cooks at home, only much more tender. :)

Desserts Spread

Primero Casa Filipino also has a nice variety of Pinoy-inspired desserts. Did I mention that I tried almost everything? Almost because I skipped the soft-serve ice cream that evening because I wasn't feeling too well.
My dessert plate: Red Velvet Cake, Brownies, Suman Panna Cotta, Rhum Balls, and many more

My personal favorites are Suman Panna Cotta, Rhum Balls and the Cappuccino Cake. I love the brownies too, I'd love to put those brownies on top of the soft-serve ice cream. Next time I will!

We also had Halo-Halo Shooters and Coffee Jelly.

I found the Coffee Jelly a bit strong for my taste (considering that I drink tons of coffee daily). I liked the Halo-Halo Shooters, hope they'll have bigger servings for the halo-halo this coming summer. :)

For affordable Filipino buffet, I could say that Primero Casa Filipino is pretty decent with its very homey ambiance and delicious Filipino dishes. I just hope they'll offer more desserts, maybe add leche flan, mangga't suman, buko pandan? or even iced desserts like Banana Con Hielo or Mais Con Hielo for summer? I'd love to see more hardcore Pinoy dishes too. A focus on regional cuisines one time (an all-Kapampangan dinner or all-Ilonggo dinner would be nice, right?)

Starting this March, lunch & dinner buffet rates are Php 398 from Monday to Thursday and Php 498 from Friday to Sunday. I'd love to visit again to try their other dishes.

Thanks to Kim Marcelo for having us.
