Outback Steakhouse: Lunch Specials and More!

I was recently invited by Outback Steakhouse to try their new weekday lunch menu and their other bestselling dishes. Much as I hate to admit, this was my first time to visit Outback so I was more than excited that evening.

Their Glorietta location is a well-known hangout place for drinks and simple gatherings. The bar is located on the first floor and the dining area is on the second floor.

The second floor is unexpectedly spacious, with new lighting fixtures and wooden flooring. And yes, the second floor also has a bar. :)

Rina and I were first to arrive, so we ordered drinks first. She had Cherry Limeade (Php 165) while I had Sparkling Citrus Cooler (Php 165).

Appetizers & Salad

For starters, we had Kookaburra Wings (Php 279 for half, Php 469 for full) and Typhoon Bloom (Php 329). For the salad, we were served Crispy Shrimp Caesar Salad (Php 499).

Kookaburra Wings
Typhoon Bloom

Kookaburra Wings is Outback's version of Buffalo Wings, and it was really awesome! You shouldn't miss it when you visit Outback. You can have the Wings in mild, medium, or hot. I got really excited as soon as the Typhoon Bloom was served, these are hand-cut onion rings served with spicy sauce. I love onion rings, and I'd definitely have this again. :)

Crispy Shrimp Caesar Salad

Crispy Shrimp Caesar Salad is a fresh romaine heart drizzled with Caesar dressing and balsamic vinegar, topped with crispy baby rock shrimp. There was some preparation before you eat the salad, glad Dona of Outback did the preps for us. The salad was a delight! I love shrimps the most.

Lunch Specials

We were served the lunch specials too. We were served BBQ Chicken Flatbread (Php 299) and Chicken Fried Chicken (Php 199).

BBQ Chicken Flatbread
Chicken Fried Chicken

Daily selections for the Flatbread are BBQ Chicken, Margherita, or Chicken Romaine. The Chicken Fried Chicken is hand-breaded and topped with classic white gravy and served with mashed potatoes. Both kids and kids-at-heart will enjoy this chicken dish. :)

We also had the pasta dishes for lunch: Chicken Parmesan (Php 299) and Pan Seared Fish in Pesto Linguini (Php 199).

Chicken Parmesan
Pan-Seared Fish in Pesto Linguini

The Chicken Parmesan is a tender chicken breast fillet topped with homemade marinara sauce and melted Swiss cheese & Parmesan cheese and served with a side of linguini marinara. I like how cheesy the Chicken Parmesan is, but I liked the Pan Seared Fish in Pesto Linguini better.

We didn't miss on trying their meat dishes: Teriyaki Beef Medallions (Php 549) and Victoria's Filet (Php 599).

Teriyaki Beef Medallions
Victoria's Filet

The Teriyaki Beef Medallions are fire-grilled teriyaki marinated steak, onions, red and green peppers served over seasoned rice and a side dish. This is quite similar to kebabs but really really tender. But the deal-breaker is the Victoria's Filet, 6oz thick-cut filet with mashed potatoes and veggies. For steaks, I highly recommend that you order it in medium-rare. I wasn't able to take a photo of the insides as I was enjoying this steak so much. I suggest that you get Victoria's Filet for lunch because the regular (dinner) price is Php 929.

Another winner is the BBQ Pork Ribs (Php 549 for lunch).

BBQ Pork Ribs

BBQ Pork Ribs is their individual portion of the fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs, served with BBQ sauce and Aussie Fries. Knives aren't needed for this dish as the meat REALLY easily falls off the bone. And yes, this is the most tender baby back ribs I had since Lyndon's from Davao City. This is also available for dinner at Php 659 for a half-rack and Php 1099 for a full rack.

Desserts

More than the steak, I was more excited to try their desserts. As soon as I saw the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under (Php 315), I ran towards it screaming like an idiot, the diners may have thought I'm crazy. hahaha.

Chocolate Thunder from Down Under

Can you blame me? With pecan brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate shavings, and warm chocolate fudge all over it (and you can even ask for extra fudge!), wouldn't you go crazy?

If you want something for sharing, you can also have the Dessert Sampler Trio (Php 475).

Dessert Sampler Trio

The Dessert Sampler Trio is a sampler size of their desserts: the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under, Banana Nut Cake, and the Cheesecake. For the cheesecake, you can either have it with raspberry or chocolate sauce. A surefire delight for every sweet tooth like myself. You can also have an individual dessert sampler portion for Php 205.

It was an overly satisfying evening for us foodies as Outback Steakhouse. Every dish was huge enough for sharing, even the dessert (yes, I'll share my dessert in Outback :P). The service was excellent (thanks to our server who gladly served me warm water for my cough, btw). I really can't wait to go back to Outback with my family. :)

Thanks to Donabel Fernandez and MM Guardino of Outback Philippines for having us and to Spanky Enriquez for organizing this event.
