Gino's Brick Oven Pizza

Note: This location is already closed.

Gino's Brick Oven Pizza has finally come to Ortigas!

Owned by the same people behind Cello's Doughnuts and Dips, Gino's has become a favorite haven in the Katipunan area for pizza lovers. It has now opened branches in Makati and most recently, at the Podium in Ortigas Center.

I was impressed particularly with the live plants as wall decors. Nothing is more beautiful than nature, isn't it?

Aside from the usual condiments that you see in an Italian restaurant, this peculiar pizza condiment piqued our interest: Gino's Spicy Honey.

For starters, we had the famous Burrata with House Salad (Php 395).

Burrata with House Salad

The house salad is greens with balsamic dressing, caramelized walnuts, dried figs, and Parmigiano Reggiano. The homemade Burrata itself is heavenly, it wasn't difficult to understand why people are raving about it. The right thing was to order bread to go with it, but it was too creamy and soft that I can't just get my hands off it. That's how good it is.

We had a pasta fiesta with Tomato Basil (Php 195), Bacon Sausage (Php 215), and Salted Egg (Php 190).

Salted Egg

Surprisingly, I loved all the pasta dishes we had but the scene-stealer was the Salted Egg Pasta, fettucine with bacon, salted egg, cream, and Parmesan. The texture took our palates to the next level. I was impressed that it wasn't too salty, given the odd combination of bacon and salted egg. You definitely shouldn't miss this when you visit Gino's.

For pizza, we had the SMEGG (Php 420), with homemade sausage, mushroom, eggs, gouda, and cream.

Add Spicy Honey :P

As I shared before, I'm more into thin-crust pizzas, but I'd go for Gino's crust anytime. The crust is chewy and tasteful that it could stand on its own. The SMEGG is phenomenal, with the runny egg and mushrooms combining well with the taste of the Spicy Honey. Though I expected that their pizza might not be enough for our group, we eventually found it quite filling (well, yeah, we shared three pasta dishes anyway. hehe).

For dessert, we shared the Nutella Soup (Php 180).

Nutella Soup

For my fellow Nutella lovers: HELL YEAH IT EXISTS!!!!

It is truly worth the extra carbs and the effort of pulling a piece from the bread bowl and dipping it to the soup. It should be good for sharing, but I wouldn't judge you if you want to have it by yourself. ;)

Gino's Brick Oven Pizza is one of the places that was surprisingly simple yet stunning. Everything we had was superbly delicious, with reasonable prices and excellent service too!

It was shameful of me to not have tried this sooner.

Yes, Gino's, you will see me again and again. :)
