My First Airbnb Experience in Bangkok Thailand

As a traveler, I believe that the accommodation is part of the adventure. I have tried staying in a dormitory in Davao, pension house in Iloilo and Bacolod, and an eco-friendly boutique hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia. For my trip to Bangkok, we decided to try this cool website called Airbnb.

Airbnb is a website with accommodation listings around the world. These listings can be entire homes, apartments, hotels, private rooms, and many others.

For Bangkok, we rented a private room for 2 days in the Sathorn area.

Prior to our arrival in Bangkok, we were given specific instructions on how to go to the place by one of our hosts, Jesse. He also gave us his mobile number should we get lost or when we are near his place.

The house, which is located near the Surasak BTS station, wasn't difficult to locate. Jesse was quite welcoming and gave us the keys and the wifi password as soon as we arrived.

Our room is reasonably spacious with a cabinet, air conditioner, towels, and blankets. The shower room (with water heater) is located just outside our room.

Our hosts also have a pet, Isabella, who is very welcoming to guests (especially to my friend Jeo who loves dogs).

Jesse is also very nice and helpful with tips on commuting around the city. He even recommended a bar we can hang out on our last night in Bangkok.

Aside from having a feeling of having a home away from home, I really liked that the check-in and check-out times are flexible. Plus, we gained new friends. :)

The location of our 'house' was very convenient, the neighborhood is peaceful and safe.

I love that Airbnb is secure with the information of its users, and quite flexible where you can look for a space that can suit your needs and your budget. It was an awesome experience that I would love to use Airbnb again in my future travels.

  2. Great recommendation! It's a bit worrisome to find suitable and safe accommodations especially abroad. Good thing there's a service like this with first hand experience from you.

  3. Will consider using Airbnb next time we travel. We usually stay at hotels, but I'd love to try homestays or maybe even temple stays like the ones they have in Korea. :)

  4. I love to travel too, I've tried Airbnb for a domestic accommodation but I had a problem with the payment section, I kept on getting an error message. So I ended up just contacting the owner of the house personally by other means. Hope to try AIrbnb on my next travel and hopefully I won't encounter any issues.
