The Purple Mangosteen Hotel, Siem Reap

Note: As of 2017, this hotel has been rebranded to Central Prestige D'Angkor. Check their new website for updated details.

During our quick vacation in Siem Reap, Cambodia last September, my friend and I intended to make our stay comfortable and within close proximity from all popular spots. As suggested by a fellow traveler, we stayed in this new boutique hotel called The Purple Mangosteen Hotel

outside our hotel

The Purple Mangosteen is a small artisan hotel with 6 stylish rooms. Aside from being stylish, this hotel is eco-friendly it uses solar power.  It is located a block away from Pub Street, and it quite near the Night Market and the Old Market as well.

We booked a Standard Deluxe room for 2 nights for 35 USD (Php 1575) a night.

Standard Deluxe is an air-conditioned room that includes a twin bed, mini-fridge, cable TV, telephone, wi-fi, complimentary bottled water, and in-house safe.

The bathroom is complete with rain shower, hot and cold water, bath gels, and even a hairdryer.

I love that the Pub Street, Night Market, and Old Market are a few steps away from the hotel, that we can go out and grab whatever we need whenever we want to. I have to emphasize how strong their wi-fi access in the room (some hotels I've gone to before having a poor wi-fi connection.)

Our stay didn't include breakfast, but during our last day in Cambodia, we opted to order dinner at the hotel lobby. Their hotel lobby doubles as a small resto-bar as well.

For dinner, we had Chicken Breast with Ginger and Cashew Nuts (4 USD or Php 180) and Chicken Satay (4 USD or Php 180).

Both dishes were generous enough for one person. I wasn't even able to finish my chicken breast dinner.

We really had a grand time at The Purple Mangosteen Hotel that I strongly recommend this hotel should you visit Siem Reap. Aside from a very strategic location, the staff and even the owner Phally are very friendly and accommodating. I would love to stay here again when I return to Siem Reap.

Note: Room rates change depending on the month. Check their website for updated rates.
