Feeling Cozy at K&L Cafe by Blushing Cupcakes

I was invited for a lovely lunch by Karen and Loren to their new abode in White Plains: K&L Cafe by Blushing Cupcakes. 

Moving their Ortigas location to a homier White Plains paved way for them to recreate their restaurant into a lovely cafe that serves delicious dishes using some of the finest ingredients from Baguio City, where they spent their childhood. 

We started with Session Salad with Strawberry Wine Vinaigrette (Php 175) and Grilled Ham & Cheese (Php 227).

I love the salad dressing on the Session Salad, with mixed greens, Sagada orange segments, candied nuts, and feta cheese. The serving was very generous, but it was gone in seconds. A favorite sandwich given a gourmet twist is the Grilled Ham & Cheese, with three kinds of cheese (Emmenthal, gruyere and cheese) and forest ham, you shouldn't miss this when you visit K&L Cafe. 

K&L Cafe serves all-day breakfast meals, like the Ultimate Red Velvet Pancake (Php 295).

Smothered with cream cheese on every layer, this one-of-a-kind pancake is surely an aptly-named dish. A sinful and sweet way to brighten up your morning, or any time of the day. 

We also had some of their pasta dishes: Mommy's Pasta (Php 197) and Special Chicken Pesto Pasta (Php 189).

Mommy's Pasta is kept simple and healthy with olives, capers, tomatoes, basil, and feta cheese while Special Chicken Pesto Pasta is lovingly dressed with pesto sauce, parmesan, and chicken fillet. Both pasta dishes are flavorful and more than enough to share. 

K&L Cafe also serves amazing hearty meals, such as Daddy's Bourbon American Ribs (Php 295), served with mountain red rice and veggies.

I was surprised at how my fork easily ran through the meat, the ribs were cooked for hours to reach that spectacular tenderness while retaining its flavor. This could be one of the best there is in Manila. 

We also indulged ourselves with their homemade juices: Baguio Honey & Calamansi Iced Tea (Php 85), Lemonade with Sagada Orange (Php 95), and Famous Strawberry Calamansi (Php 95).

I couldn't choose which one I liked most, but I'd recommend that you try it all. 

As a coffee addict, I didn't miss on their coffee creations from freshly-brewed Sagada coffee beans. We had the Cafe Mocha (Php 105, hot) and Maple Caramel Latte (Php 105, hot).

Expect their coffee drinks to be of stronger punch, which makes it a perfect pair to their cupcakes. The sweetness of the maple caramel somehow tamed the bitterness of the coffee, but still enough to wake my senses.

Ultimate S'mores and Black Velvet Surprise Cheesecake Cupcakes

A visit to K&L Cafe wouldn't be complete if we're not going to have cupcakes. We got Ultimate S'mores (Php 75) and Black Velvet Surprise Cheesecake (Php 117).

I am obsessed with cheesecake, and I love that K&L Cafe has thought about making a cupcake version of my favorite dessert. 

K&L Cafe just made Baguio more reachable by selling goodies such as Sagada coffee beans, strawberry jam, and peanut brittle at their shop. 

K&L Cafe is a hidden sanctuary where you can enjoy homemade delicious food, refreshing drinks, and amazing desserts in a comforting environment. I can't wait to return and have a sumptuous meal again.
