It was a fun-filled day: a food event in Makati, a drinking sesh in Ortigas, and a short stop to a "not so" food festival in Quezon City. Not sure where to go next, the boys decided to drive us to Katipunan to have something closer to home: Beef Pares.
Pares Mami House, located along Xavierville Avenue, is one of those places you go to for no-frills food at pocket-friendly prices.
It was almost midnight, at to keep our tummies warm (and happy), we each ordered a serving of beef pares, a cup of rice, with hot broth and a bottle of soft drinks.
Not the best-tasting pares I have tasted (I had a better one at a carinderia somewhere in Ortigas), but could be improved with the condiments available (soy sauce, chili, and whatnots).
It was always fun to go back to basics and appreciate the little things that you can buy at less a hundred bucks.
Late-night after-party run and good conversation over beef pares, that's my kind of weekend.

The place was very elegant and they seemed to have plenty of service staff available. We constantly received compliments on how great event at Chicago restaurants was, from the service to the food.
