Nest Modern Table & Bar

Note: This restaurant is already closed.

I was invited last November 7 to the official launch of Nest Modern Table & Bar at the roof deck of W Fifth Avenue Tower in Bonifacio Global City.

It is an upscale bar-restaurant that offers Asian flavors and Western-style cooking fares in a relaxed yet sophisticated environment.

The evening started with demos from Lee Watson, the beverage consultant, and Chef Benjo Tuason, head chef of Nest MNL.

While waiting for the dinner to be served, we indulged on their Signature Cocktails:

Sexy and I Know It (Php 331) - Absolut Vanilla Vodka, rose syrup, lemon, and maraschino cherry liqueur

Smokin' (Php 414) - Laphroaig Single Malt Scotch, Coconut Syrup, honey and lime

Green Mojito (Php 414) - Bacardi Silver, green apple puree, green charteuses, mint and ginger beer

Spider Web (Php 331) - Dewar's White Scotch, Cachaca Brazilian Rum, passion fruit syrup and lemon

I found the Green Mojito a bit strong for me, but I liked the Spider Web and of course, Sexy and I Know It. :)

We were then served with the tasting portions of some of their delicious dishes.

bread and butter

For starters, we were served Chunky Butternut Squash and Chickpea Soup (Php 150) and Foie Gras and Mushrooms (Php 550).

Foie Gras and Mushrooms

I like the strong yet creamy flavors on the soup, but I preferred the Foie Gras and Mushrooms, served with poached egg, croutons, parmesan, and balsamic. Heart-stopping but you only live once. ;)

For the mains, we had the Pan-Seared Snapper (Php 470) and 5 Spiced Roast Pork Belly (Php 250).

Pan-Seared Snapper

Served with prawn and salmon roe risotto, the dish was light yet bursting with different tastes from each of the elements on the dish.

5 Spiced Roast Pork Belly

I was impressed that they used Kurobuta or Black Pig for the 5 Spiced Roast Pork Belly, which explains the melt-in-your-mouth tenderness of the meat. It was served with soy and garlic noodles and sesame cucumber relish.

For dessert, we had Reese's Sansrival (Php 200) and Donuts and Dips (Php 200).

Reese's Sansrival

Reese's Sansrival is peanut butter cream sansrival on top of chocolate ganache. It was a little tough to demolish, but  I liked it nevertheless.

Donuts & Dips

A bit more simple yet appealing was the donuts and dips, served with three dips: peanut butter cream, salted caramel, and strawberry jam.

Note that the dishes served to us were tasting portions only, the actual servings were bigger and could be shared.

It was a lovely evening with awesome drinks and delicious food while being serenaded by the acoustic singer Julianne. As the night draws to a close, the mood became more celebratory, with the DJ playing more upbeat songs.

Grab their Happy Hour specials with all their signature cocktails up for Buy 1 Take 1 from 5pm to 9pm, and 3 beers on tap warrant one more on-the-house.

Amid the sophisticated ambiance and delectable menu, I was amused to find the prices of Nest MNL quite reasonable. With these amazing drinks and dishes, I would love to go back here with my friends for a relaxing evening soon.

Thanks to Stratworks and Nest MNL for having us.

  1. Roast Pork Belly and Reeses Sansrival sounds delicious. The Donuts and Dip is an interesting take. Looks like a good place to visit.
