Cafe Lidia

This visit is purely accidental: we were supposed to visit a new breakfast place in Marikina, but it was temporarily closed. Cafe Lidia suddenly came to mind, as a lot of my friends have been visiting the place and has been encouraging me to give it a try.

Cafe Lidia's location is quite hidden--a little off from the main road. However, the place is so popular that you wouldn't have a hard time finding the place (thanks Google Maps!). They have a parking lot across the restaurant, where they have security staff to guard the customers' cars.

We were early for dinner so we were seated immediately. This place is very spacious but can get full, especially during weekends.

For appetizers, we had Nachos (Php 155).

Nachos

The nachos are generously topped with ground beef, tomatoes, and lots of cheese sauce. It was good for 2 3 persons. They also have Nacho Grande, which has bigger servings.

For main entrees, we had Pasta ala Lidia (Php 155), Pizza Lidia (Php 225) and Chicken Angelito (Php 200). Cafe Lidia is known for their pasta dishes and pizza, so we didn't miss on trying the bestsellers.

Pasta ala Lidia
Pizza Lidia

Pasta ala Lidia is an olive oil-based pasta dish with olives, capers, anchovies, tomatoes and basil. I liked how healthy yet flavorful this pasta is, however, I thought it had way too much olives.

Cafe Lidia serves 12-inch thin crust pizzas for reasonable prices. We sampled the Pizza Lidia, which i topped with olives, capers and tuna. It can be compared with popular pizza places, in my opinion.

Chicken Angelito

A new dish in their menu, Chicken Angelito, is chicken breast with white wine, sundried tomato, mushrooms, carrots, bell peppers, green peas in cream sauce and served with mashed potatoes. I have a thing for creamy dishes, and I loved this one. Rice would go well with it, but I'm happy with the mashed potatoes.

For drinks, I had Iced Coffee (Php 85 for 16oz) while my friend had Chocolate Friz (Php 100 for 16oz). I found my drink a little too sweet, that it overwhelmed the caffeine rush I was looking for.

Cafe Lidia is also known for their cakes (which I really think they get from this popular cake supplier), but aside from cakes, they also have ice cream creations in their menu.

Being a cheesecake addict, we shared a slice of Blueberry Cheesecake (Php 110).

Blueberry Cheesecake

No complaints about this cheesecake too. It was addicting!

It was a happy accident for us as I loved my experience in Cafe Lidia. The dishes are delicious and quite affordable and the service is impeccable. I'd love to give this place another visit soon.
