Tamagoya! Noodle House

My visit to Tamagoya is quite significant to me since this is where I experienced my two firsts: my first Ramen and my first Antipolo food trip. Though I love Japanese food, I'm more of a sushi-katsu-and-tempura person, but I was willing to explore more of the cuisine. I live in Rizal, but I haven't really tried exploring the foodie places around the area. Good thing I have foodie friends who also live in Rizal and are willing to introduce me to spots I haven't visited before.

I recently had dinner-slash-bonding with Ate Miriam, who won my King Bee giveaway. She suggested that we have dinner at Tamagoya since I haven't been there before.

Tamagoya! Noodle House is a small restaurant tucked at the border of Marikina and Antipolo City. The Japanese-owned place serves authentic ramen, rice toppings, and other Japanese side dishes at really affordable prices (compared to other popular ramen joints). The resto has two floors: the second floor is usually for large groups.

For starter, we ordered Yaki Gyoza (6 pieces, Php 98).

Yaki Gyoza

Yaki Gyoza is Japanese pan-fried dumplings. I usually have it steamed, but the pan-fried version was also delicious! It feels like I could finish order or two myself and wouldn't feel guilty about eating something oily.

I had a bowl of Miso Ramen (Php 158) while Ate Miriam had a bowl of Stamina Ramen (Php 168).

Miso Ramen

I was surprised by their servings for the ramen bowls, which are quite huge that even 2 persons can share a bowl. Miso Ramen is a Japanese miso paste base soup with noodles, pork, and seaweed. I don't really like miso, but I really liked this one. It was soothing and the flavor's just right for me.

Stamina Ramen

Stamina Ramen, their bestselling ramen bowl, is chili miso paste base soup. I've also tried it, and it wasn't that spicy for me. Anyway, if you want it to be hotter, you can add some chili powder.

Overall, Tamagoya! Noodle House is worth a trip if you want some authentic ramen fix without burning a hole in your pocket. The service was great, the whole place looks like I've been teleported to Japan. It made me love Japanese cuisine more that I can't wait to go back and try the other ramens and the rice toppings.

If you're planning to visit the place, take note of the following:
- The staff doesn't accept tips
- The place is closed on Mondays
- The place is open for dine-in from 11:00am to 2:00pm and 5:00pm to 9:00pm, they're only open for take-outs from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
- Parking slots in front of the restaurant tend to be full, you may park across the street.

From Marcos Highway, turn left from Masinag Intersection (landmark: Masinag Market). Go straight until you reach Soliven Avenue (landmarks: wet and dry market and 7-Eleven). Tamagoya! is almost behind 7-Eleven.

Thanks a lot for taking me here, Ate Miriam!!!

Well admittedly Rai Rai Ken & Bubbletea are the only 2 places I've tried. Must be the soup base, it doesn't really taste like anything? XD lol can't explain.

  6. This is one of those authentic Japanese food places that are cheap does a better job in giving you a taste of Japan than those expensive restos.. I'm so jealous! I wish there's a branch here in Cebu!. I'm a fan of Ramen not all restaurants serve good Ramen.

btw, I'm planning to visit the restaurants in Cebu you blogged about. I'm planning to blog about them too. I hope you won't mind? Of course, I'll credit you.

  14. Tamagoya has okay food and reasonable prices. Considering I had to drive for an hour to get there I was kind of disappointed because I found their noodles on the bland side. The Gyoza is delicious though.
