Here's a secret: I'm a huge nerd. I love reading books and I spend an insurmountable amount of time reading through Wikipedia of whatever comes to mind. That is why I was extremely ecstatic to be invited to the first ever Quiz Night by Zomato.
The first ever Zomato Quiz Night was held at 121 Restaurant at Bonifacio Stopover. Unknown to many, 121 Restaurant is the first restobar that organized quiz nights. This concept has since been replicated by other spots around the metro.
My fellow Zomato foodies and I were divided into teams and were served drinks and dishes by 121 Restaurant while playing. The game has 8 rounds, with certain advantages that we can use every few rounds like steal and double points. The topic for the evening's game is all about FOOD!
On the first few rounds, we shared a bowl of 121 Scandal (Php 199 per glass, Php 799 per bowl) and Lumpiang Shanghai (Php 199 for solo, Php 759 for barkada size).
The 121 Scandal is a mix of rum, Sprite, mint, lemon and lime. It is a smooth cocktail drink you can enjoy throughout the evening. I love the bite-sized Lumpiang Shanghai served with a simple sweet and sour sauce. It's a perfect pair to 121 Scandal.
We were also served Sizzling Beef Salpicao (Php 349 for solo, Php 1329 for barkada) and Chicken Binakol (Php 269).

The Sizzling Beef Salpicao is tender but the flavor of the marinade can be improved. I love that they serve Chicken Binakol, a Visayan version of tinola with coconut water. More broth please!
We also got to try 121's bestseller, the Grilled Pork Liempo (Php 219) and Tuyo Fried Rice (Php 199).

I love the Grilled Pork Liempo even without the special 121 sauce. Because I love tuyo, I was also impressed with the Tuyo Fried Rice. It pairs perfectly with the pork liempo as well.
121 Restaurant is not exactly a dessert place, but managed to have us try their White Chocolate Cheesecake (Php 119).

The cheesecake wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best either. Still, I appreciated something sweet after having savory dishes.
It was a fun quiz night with Zomato foodies. Everyone was quite competitive and enthusiastic throughout the night, which shows how passionate everyone is with food. Oh, our team came second overall. :P
Thanks to Zomato for the experience. I can't wait to join another quiz night soon. :)
