Ninak: Asian Comfort Food

Note: This location is already closed.

I have returned to Kapitolyo to try this new Asian fusion restaurant in the area called Ninak

Ninak (or 'kanin' spelled backward), is the newest venture of the people behind Brothers Burger (yes, that awesome burger place.) Ninak was actually mentioned by them during the Brothers Burger event I went to a few months before Ninak opened.

The place is casual, with more tables on the mezzanine floor. It doesn't have the usual Asian decors common in other restaurants. Our server that night was friendly, too friendly that he tried to photobomb while I was taking photos of the place. :p

The first dish we had is the Phad Thai (Php 229), something I was craving for that time.

Phad Thai

It was a bit on the sour side because of the tamarind and had a bit too much tofu.

We also ordered Chicken Satay (Php 255, 6 pcs), which comes with pickles and peanut dip.

Chicken Satay

The flavor of the chicken satay came too strong for me. I assume it was marinated for a long time. I enjoyed this dish nevertheless.

The best dish we had that night was the Spicy Beef Belly (Php 330).

Spicy Beef Belly

The spiciness of the dish comes from the chilis served on top. The meat was crispy yet tender at the same time that it had me savoring each bite. I will go back to Ninak for this dish.

Ninak serves quality Asian dishes at reasonable prices. The servings were also enough to share. As a fanatic of Asian cuisine, I would love to go back here to try more of what they have to offer.
