Home Cooking 101: Tuna Lumpia

Here's a healthy baon option for you: Tuna Lumpia. :)

I do love the pork version, but I try to whip up a fish version every time there's a lumpia wrapper at home. Based on experience, making the tuna lumpia takes a bit more work than pork lumpia, but it is worth it.

Ingredients:

2 cans of tuna
1 onion, chopped
garlic, minced
1 small carrot, grated
1 egg
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
salt and pepper to taste
lumpia wrappers

Instructions:

1. Drain tuna.
2. Once the tuna is drained, mix in onions, garlic, egg, grated carrots, salt, pepper, and flour.
3. Wrap the tuna filling in lumpia wrapper
4. Deep-fry, and serve with a dip of your choice.

For the canned tuna, I prefer using Corned Tuna or Tuna in Vegetable Oil. Just make sure the tuna is properly drained so the lumpia wouldn't be watery. You may also use bangus or any other canned fish. :)
