King Bee Chinese Food

Note: This location is already closed.

I was recently invited by King Bee Chinese Food (through Marco of Kwento ni Toto) to try their delectable Chinese dishes that suit the Filipino palate. I was personally curious about King Bee since I always pass by the Marcos Highway branch, and I notice that it's always full.

King Bee Chinese Food has been offering authentic Chinese food for more than ten years. From their main branch in Cavite, they have expanded to six more locations, including their newest and biggest branch at Commonwealth Avenue.

They opened their Commonwealth Avenue branch to cater to foodies in the northern part of Metro Manila. King Bee Commonwealth branch has function rooms for private parties and other occasions.

King Bee has a vast menu that can cater from small to big groups. They also have set menus for 6, 8, or 12 pax with prices starting from Php 650 to Php 1250.

For that night, we were served some dishes that are exclusively available in the set menu.

To start our meal, we were served Wintermelon Soup (Php 220 / Php 330 / Php 440).

Wintermelon Soup

Wintermelon Soup is a thin soup with pork, bacon, mushrooms, and other vegetables. Aside from a wonderful presentation, it was refreshing. It is something you'd want on a rainy day.

We also had Sauteed Crystal Prawn Balls with Cashew Nuts in Taro Nest.

Another fun dish. You may either start munching on the taro nest or eat the prawn balls and cashew nuts.

We also had the Dimsum Platter, which has Chicken Feet (Php 70, ala carte), Pork Siomai (Php 80, ala carte), and Bird's Eye Siomai (Php 90, ala carte).

I found their Pork Siomai larger than usual and really meaty.

We also had House Specialty Roast Chicken (Php 520, whole) and Fried Kingfish in Thai Sauce (seasonal price).

House Specialty Roast Chicken is a common dish in any meal, served with sweet chili sauce for more flavor.  I liked the crispiness of the Fried Kingfish, and the sliced cherries brought a different taste to the dish.

We also had Sliced Beef with Broccoli Flower (Php 300 / Php 450 / Php 600). All of these dishes were partnered with Yang Chow Fried Rice (Php 100 a cup, Php 210 / Php 315 / Php 420).

I'm quite strict with the tenderness of the beef, and the Sliced Beef with Broccoli Flower was really, really tender. I was just a little overwhelmed by the sweetness of the sauce, but it's definitely something that even the kids would dig in.

I could just laugh at myself when I saw the fried rice. And I saw shrimp. Again. I like shrimp, and I appreciate that I ate a lot of shrimp without deshelling it myself. :)

For dessert, we were served a creative masterpiece: the Mixed Fruits Platter (Php 260 / Php 390 / Php 520)

Mixed Fruits Platter

The platter has slices of watermelon, mango, orange, pineapple, and apple. It was really beautiful that we kinda forgot that it's a fruit, and we're supposed to eat it.

We also had 2 kinds of Chinese Pastries, one is similar to a Japanese Mochi while one is comparable to an empanada.

Chinese Pastries

I loved the combination of mango and cream of the pastry. I'd definitely order a box of this and eat the whole thing myself.

King Bee Chinese Food is a good place to bring your family and friends. With their classy interiors, quality service, and delicious dishes at reasonable prices, this place is just perfect for any occasion or for simple get-togethers.

Thanks to Ms. Andrea Ng of King Bee Chinese Food for having us.

  1. What a good food presentation especially the wintermelon soup. I find their food kind of pricey though, well except the dimsum platter. I will have to take some friends if I decide to eat there though.
