Birthday Dinner at Tampopo

Note: This location is already closed.

I celebrated my birthday weekend eating food that I enjoy eating the most: Japanese food. To end my birthday weekend, my friends and I had dinner at the newly-opened restaurant in Bonifacio High Street Central: Tampopo.

Tampopo is an international brand from Singapore, serving authentic Japanese ramen and katsu.

We were supposed to have Deluxe Tampopo Black Pig Shabu Ramen, but unfortunately, Kyushu Ramen wasn't available when we visited. We settled with Sapporo Ramen instead.

We ordered Deluxe Hakodate Ramen (Php 440) and Sapporo Negi Chili Miso Ramen (Php 440).

I loved the thick and hearty broth of the Deluxe Hakodate Ramen, the generous servings of the corn enhanced the flavor too. However, we found the Sapporo Negi Chili Miso Ramen insipid, though my friends love the spicy flavor. We should have stuck with Kyushu next time.

For katsu, we shared the Prawn & Pork Fillet Set (Php 495) and Chicken Cutlet Set (Php 340).

Prawn & Pork Fillet Set

Each katsu set comes with rice, Japanese pickles, fruit, and miso soup. I was impressed by how crispy the prawn katsu was, however, I found the pork fillet really thin.

Chicken Cutlet Set

The Chicken Cutlet Set saves the day. The meat was tender and moist, and I would probably have this again along with the Pork Loin Yanagawa.

Though we went on a bad day (bestsellers not available), we were satisfied with our dinner at Tampopo. The server was helpful enough with assisting us in what to order. The prices were reasonable and the service could still be improved. Nevertheless, satiated our katsu and ramen cravings for the meantime.

  1. Hmm Kyushu Ramen is still out of stock? That is what they told us when we visited two weeks ago too.
