Singapore Chicken Rice

Note: This restaurant is already closed.

Cubao used to be one of our college hangouts. But during that time, food trip just means Burger King, KFC, McDonald's, Jollibee, or if we get lucky, Gonuts Donuts and/or Starbucks. Yes, we weren't that adventurous then.

It was just timely to try one of the popular foodie places in Cubao, Singapore Chicken Rice.

Singapore Chicken Rice was established by Singaporeans who want to share authentic yet inexpensive  Singaporean dishes to Manila. All of their ingredients are sourced from Singapore.

The place is a simple fast food restaurant located at the back of Shopwise Cubao. Our little complaint about this place is the temperature. The staff was kind enough to explain that one air conditioning unit was working at that time.

My friend and I ordered Hainanese Chicken Rice (Php 110).

Hainanese Chicken Rice

Hainanese Chicken Rice is served with rice, soup and vegetables on the side. Like in other Singaporean restos, the chicken was served cold and warm rice. I found the Hainanese Chicken really good, and better with the pounded ginger and chili sauce.

We also had Satay (Php 110), which has 2 pieces of chicken and 2 pieces of pork.

Satay

Satay is the Singaporean version of grilled meat with peanut sauce. The satay was a little too sweet, yet really flavorful.

I was supposed to try the Chocolate Dinosaur and Dino Monkey, but it wasn't available that time.

Singapore Chicken Rice is a nice treat if you want to try Singaporean dishes at affordable prices. I really appreciated the friendliness of the crew (since my friend and I took a while before ordering, they probably  thought we were weird).

I'll probably go back to try the Laksa, Char Kuay Tiao and hopefully, the Chocolate Dinosaur. :)

  5. I like sweet Satay. As for the Hainanese, it's my favorite esp. whenever I go to HongKong. It may look pale but definitely tasty! :)

  9. I haven't tried this yet, but I hope I get to soon. Btw, Chocolate Dinosaur = iced Milo. I tried it when I was in Singapore 'cause I was curious, but turns out, Milo lang pala with more undissolved Milo powder on top.
