Birthday Dinner at The Village Tavern

Note: This restaurant is already closed.

The boyfie and I went to Village Tavern in Bonifacio High Street Central for his birthday a few months ago.

For starters, we shared the Tavern Nachos (Php 245  for small, Php 450 for large), Ahi Tuna and Potato Salad (Php 450) and Soup of the Day, Cream of Broccoli Soup (Php 175).

Soup of the Day

The Tavern Nachos is corn chips topped with Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses, salsa, black olives, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapeƱos, sour cream, and spicy ground beef. It was forgettable. However, I loved the Ahi Tuna and Potato Salad and their Cream of Broccoli Soup. The Ahi Tuna and Potato Salad are served with soft boiled egg, mixed greens and crab fat dressing, not-so-healthy but very delicious salad.

For pasta, we shared the Pappardelle Al Vongole (Php 550).

Pappardelle Al Vongole

The Pappardelle Al Vongole is aglio olio on Pappardella with onions, white white, chili and Manila clams. I must note that the serving was more than enough for the two of us. I love the flavor and the clams served on this dish.

Our visit to Village Tavern is mainly for the steaks, so I got Certified Angus Ribeye 8oz (Php 1795) while the boyfie ordered the Certified Angus Filet Mignon 8oz (Php 1650), both steaks are served medium rare, with mashed potatoes and veggies on the side.

We both were thoroughly impressed with how perfectly-cooked our steaks are. The steaks were quite tender and flavorful. It was honestly a lot better than I expected.

Overall, we loved the dishes we had in Village Tavern. I only have two issues during our visit: 1. The staff was nowhere to be seen whenever we needed something. I have noticed that most of them were in the alfresco area so we had to wait for them to go inside to ask for their assistance. 2. The courses of our meal weren't phased properly. Our orders were served one dish after the other. I would have loved to take our time eating the starters before we move to the mains.

I would love to go back for the steaks at Village Tavern, but I do hope they'll improve on their service soon.

  1. Some establishments need to learn that it's not always just about good food. Good and proper service also matters. But hey, would love to give the food there a try still! :D
