Lunch at Sumo Sam Legacy

Note: This location is already closed.

Our cravings for Japanese food brought us to SumoSam Legacy at The Podium.

Based on my research, the "Legacy" brand is exclusive to SM Premier Malls. There must also be a difference with the menu. Also, The Podium is the first SumoSam Legacy location.

I wasn't feeling quite well so I quickly requested the complimentary hot tea. The stone container looks beautiful.

For starters, we had a Philadelphia Roll (Php 268) and Mixed Tempura (Php 298).

I love the huge cuts of salmon on top of the Philadelphia Roll. I liked the variety of Mixed Tempura: Ebi, Kisu, Kani, Dory, Sweet Potato, Eggplant, and Okra.

My friends and I also shared a bowl of Tantanmen (Php 358) and Chicken Teriyaki (Php 248).

The flavor and the spiciness of the Tantanmen were adequate, but I think it could be better. I do love the Chicken Teriyaki and I like how it was presented.

With this visit, I realized that SumoSam was created to introduce Japanese dishes to Filipino taste buds so it would be unfair to compare it with authentic Japanese restos. The food was satisfying and the prices are reasonable. The service was a bit off during our visit (I couldn't figure out why the staff was hiding behind the counter). Anyway, I would love to go back to try more dishes soon.
