Cafe Mary Grace

I was really craving for a breakfast meal that I had to drag my friend to one of the places I haven't visited for years, Cafe Mary Grace.

I received a cake from Mary Grace for my birthday last year, that I made a mental note to visit Cafe Mary Grace soon.

Cafe Mary Grace looks like a home library cum coffee shop. It was a bit full that we were seated at the al fresco area, which I didn't mind as I was really looking forward to having a breakfast meal, and cheesecake. :)

What do I love more than the food? The quotable quotes!

I ordered one of their Filipino Breakfast items, Beef Tapa (Php 247).

Beef Tapa
Beef Tapa is served with garlic rosemary fried rice and scrambled eggs. You may have the eggs sunny side up or upgrade to ham/cheese omelette. I found the tapa serving quite small, and a little tough. However, the garlic rosemary rice is so delicious that though I don't usually order extra rice, I wish I got another serving. :)

Hot Chocolate for takeaway
As I recently became a cheesecake addict, I got myself a slice of Mary Grace Cheesecake (Php 120) while my friend got Mary Grace Hot Chocolate (Php 110) for takeaway. The cheesecake wasn't that tarty but it was the right kind of plain cheesecake I was looking for. My friend loved the Mary Grace Hot Chocolate! She wished she got herself two cups (damn, I got envious).

I got a Mary Grace Chocolate Cake for my 23rd birthday, so I also got this for my brother's birthday. I got the whole square chocolate cake (Php 635), which is 8 x 8 x 2 inches of chocolatey goodness with creamy custard filling in the middle.

Mary Grace Chocolate Cake
I was kinda surprised that the cake was too heavy and mind you, it was still in it's perfect shape after more than an hour of travel. If you prefer your chocolate cake not too sweet, then you must try this. :)

Cafe Mary Grace is a place for pastry lovers like me since the dishes were kinda average (and bit pricey). I should try  the Hot Chocolate, the ensaymada and cheese rolls soon.

  3. I only liked the "beef tapa" of all the photos you've included. Sweets for me is nahhhh...won't bite it..hehehe. Nice place huh! It's been years since I've last visited Ortigas area and would love to do it when I come back.

    1. Aww. really? that's quite sad. I love desserts! :) Yes, there are so many foodie places here in Ortigas. I hope you'll give a visit once you get back.

  4. I like the idea where you can read something while sipping coffee or eating what you've ordered --readers like me would frequent to such place.

    1. I agree. Though I usually want to spend time doing nothing while drinking coffee. :)

  5. 247 for tapsilog?! what, do they serve it with gold plates? LOL. i'll try the cheesecake but if i get to visit it i'd probably pass on the tapsilog.

    1. Hi Marjorie! The price is almost the same as Pancake House. :) Please do try the cheesecake. :)

  6. i agree that the beef tapa meal is quite pricey, but the choco cake looks promising :)

  7. That chocolate cake looks so good!!

  8. My mom loves this place. If she had her way, we'd always be eating here. I love the ambiance in this place, as well as their desserts. :)

    1. Maybe because the place looks like a mom's kitchen.hehe. :) I can't blame you, I love desserts too. :)

  9. I've always seen Cafe Mary Grace in Trinoma, but that branch is really small. I hope I can try the Greenbelt branch or kahit this one in Ortigas.. :D Would love to sample their cakes and hot chocolate! <3

    1. Really? I've seen the Serendra branch (which I think is kinda spacious) aside from Ortigas. I'm going to try the hot choco din soon. :)

  10. Oh it's in Rockwell Ortigas, okay then thanks!!!!!

Mango Bravo by Conti's

Mother dear celebrated her birthday last month, and as I always do, I bought her a birthday cake. Last year, I got her Grandma's Chocolate Cake from Purple Oven, this time it's Mango Bravo by Conti's.
One of Conti's bestselling cakes, Mango Bravo is available in two sizes: Mini (Php 665) and Regular (Php 1195).
Thinking about the amount of food that will be stored over the weekend, I bought the Mini.

Mango Bravo is a wafer-based cake with cream, topped with slices of ripe mangoes, with choco syrup and cashew nuts. Oh, this cake needs to be frozen, btw (super thanks to my friend Mike for taking me and my cake home safely. hehe.)

Chocolat: Deep Dark Chocolate Cakes

I've always been curious about Chocolat eversince a friend told me it's really good. PLUS it was included in's Top Ten Chocolate Cakes in Manila so I suggested that my friends and I meet up at this hidden cake store in Katipunan area.

Chocolat offers signature chocolate cakes and other specialty cakes. The place is a small shop that could only sit 10 persons. Customers usually drop by to buy cakes for takeaway.

Acne is one of the most common skin problems among teenagers. Also, acne can affect adults.
What causes acne? According to MayoClinic, the four main factors that cause acne are oil production, dead skin cells, clogged pores and bacteria. Hormones, certain medications, diet and stress are also huge contributors that can trigger acne.

Avoid resting your hands and other objects (like your phone screen) to your face.

Just don't.
