Shawarma Guys at The Fort Strip

Note: This restaurant is already closed.

The first time that I went to visit Shawarma Guys was last month when I suggested to my friend that we have a pre-dinner first while we wait for our other friends to arrive at Tapeo. I was blown away by the Sisig Shawarma that I wanted to get a second one.

A few weeks later, I find myself back to Shawarma Guys, excited to get my hands on that sinful and crunchy Sisig Shawarma once again.

inside Shawarma Guys

Shawarma Guys is from the owners of URBN Bar & Kitchen and Relik Tapas Bar. Chef Benjo Tuason, the head chef, and owner considers this their "carinderia" because of its affordability and laid-back ambiance. The walls are designed with the items on the menu. They even have a clever sign pointing to the restroom.

cute! :)

We tried some of their classic shawarmas: Beef Shawarma (Php 150) and Lamb Shawarma (Php 180).

And we also got try the unique shawarmas: my favorite Sisig Shawarma (Php 140) and their shawarma for the month of April: Patty's Bacon Shawarma with Cheesy Yogurt Sauce (Php 150).

I love the crunchiness of the Sisig Shawarma that it's best to eat it while hot. The same goes for Bacon Shawarma. I hope I could ask for more bacon next time.

You may also want to try the Chicken Shawarma (Php 140), the all-meat shawarma called The Timo (Php 250), or The Breakfast Shawarma (Php 170). You may have buttered basmati rice and grilled tomato instead of normal shawarma for an additional Php 20.

For kebab, we had the biggest kebab platter on the menu: The Blackbenny Platter (Php 470).

The Blackbenny Platter

The Blackbenny Platter has one piece of beef, beef tenderloin, chicken and lamb with a side salad, pita bread, and buttered basmati rice. It's good for sharing, and the best choice if you want to try all the kebabs. :)

We also tried the Garlic Ox Brain (Php 150) and Chicken Makhni (Php 220).

Chicken Makhni

Ox Brain is one of the usual dishes at any Persian resto. I don't really eat ox brain, but I had one bite and it was good. Chicken Makhni is an Indian dish with butter and other spices. This one's best partnered with a piece of pita bread or buttered basmati rice.

Shawarma Guys offer a good variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. I had tried the Mango Lassi (Php 100), which is a traditional Indian drink.

Mango Lassi

The mango flavor overpowers the yogurt taste, so I hope they'll adjust the mango-yogurt ratio. They also have a Strawberry Lassi (Php 100) and regular Lassi (Php 90).

For dessert, Chef Benjo was nice enough to serve us desserts from URBN Bar & Kitchen, which a few steps aways from Shawarma
Guys.

We had some vanilla ice cream, Chocolate Love-ah Cake (Php 250), and Mango Cheesecake (Php 150).

Like the Salted Caramel Cheesecake, the Mango Cheesecake is just fantastic. The Chocolate Love-ah Cake tastes better if you put some vanilla ice cream on top. :)

It was love at first taste between me and Shawarma Guys. I'll seriously go back for a bunch of Sisig Shawarma. The dishes are affordable and the service is top-notch (yes, the staff was really nice).

Shawarma Guys now have a Shawarma Happy Hour, where from 5-8PM every Friday, you can buy one Sisig Shawarma or Shawarma of the Month, and you get another one for free! The Choice is also on-going, where you can vote for the next Shawarma of the Month and win Shawarma Guys GCs.

Now, I'm craving for that epic shawarma again.

Thanks to Shawarma Guys for having us and to Spanky Enriquez for organizing this event.
