Comfort Food at Its Finest at Kettle

My friend and I went to Shangri-la Plaza East Wing to give Kettle a try because both of us have been wanting to try the restaurant's most popular dish, the buttermilk chicken.

For the appetizer, we shared the Pork & Potato Strips (Php 389).

Pork & Potato Strips

It's a humongous tower of fresh potato strips with pork belly, mixed with herbs and truffle oil and served with red pepper aioli. I love that it wasn't greasy and stays crispy even when it gets cold. Oh, and I love the taste of truffle. :)

We also had the Mac & Four Cheese (Php 289).

Mac and Four Cheese

What looks like mac and cheese on steroids is a glorious piece of a pasta dish. A combination of cheddar, fontina, gruyere, parmesan, and of course, lots of bacon was a surefire hit in my heart (and in my stomach.)

We didn't miss out on the Buttermilk Fried Chicken (Php 559).

Buttermilk Fried Chicken

Buttermilk Fried Chicken is two huge chicken thigh fillets served with honey glazed cornbread, country gravy, and cajun honey.

The fried chicken meat is succulent, in contrast to its crunchy skin that each bite is so heavenly. It exceeded my expectations and more. True enough, it is one of the well-executed fried chicken dishes in the metro.

For dessert, we ordered the Checkered Cake (Php 229).

Checkered Cake

An artsy version of chocolate chiffon and red velvet with cream cheese frosting. The cake was dense and the sweetness not overwhelming, which I like.

Kettle is one of the best places for American comfort food. The servings are quite huge that it is meant for sharing, so it isn't really as pricey as I thought it would be. Yes, the Buttermilk Fried Chicken is worth trying and a lot of visits! :)
