Smile Elephant in Kapitolyo

This time last year I was in Thailand, eating as much Thai food as I can stuff into my mouth. Since that trip, Thai cuisine held a special place in my heart (and my tummy). However, Thai food in Manila seems to be expensive and quite rare.

I was happy that my friends recommended this small Thai resto discreetly located in Kapitolyo called Smile Elephant.

The place was quite small and could only accommodate around 20 to 30 people, hence we had to wait outside before we were seated.

We started with the complimentary appetizer, the sweet and salty nuts, and Thai Iced Tea (Php 85).

I was craving for the Thai Iced Coffee, but they don't have it on the menu so I settled with the Thai Iced Tea. Though I'm not really a fan of milk tea (as I have mentioned in this blog before), I will drink Thai milk tea anytime.

For starters, we had Thai Spring Rolls (Php 170) and Tom Yum Seafood (Php 285).

We also ordered my favorites, the Thai Green Chicken Curry (Php 185) and Phad Thai Noodles (Php 215).

The Thai Green Chicken Curry tastes exactly like the ones I have tried in Thailand, but I would have preferred that they use chicken fillet. The Phad Thai is spot-on as well.

We also tried the Sweet and Spicy Fish Fillet (Php 250) and Bangkok Fried Rice (Php 180).

I was impressed that an affordable and authentic Thai restaurant with an extensive menu has opened in Kapitolyo. The service was excellent and the food was more than satisfactory. I would love to visit this place again to satisfy my Thai cravings.

  2. The only thai resto I have tried is the Soi at Glorietta and my favorite is their Pad Thai. Your pictures are inviting me to try Smile Elephant. May I ask where is this Kapitolyo located? Thanks dear!

Address is at the bottom of the post, but it's a few meters away from Ramen Cool. :)
