Yakimix

Note: This location is already closed.

It really took a while before I decided to post my latest experience with Yakimix. I know a lot of people love Yakimix that most probably they have gone to this buffet resto more than I do. I have first visited Yakimix two years ago with my college friends, who I share the same fondness for buffets. I gave this place a second visit a few months ago with the same people.

My friends arrived late so we had to wait outside since the place's already full, which we didn't mind. What was unusual was the way they called my name when we were about to be sitted. The manager told me that we'll be sat with another group. I didn't bother reacting, I'm too hungry I might bite his arms off.

Our meats to grill
My sukiyaki
My messy plate of maki and tempura

Yakimix has now included unlimited drinks in their rates. Their drink selections include sodas, iced tea, and fruit juices.

Some of the staff are kinda stiff, like the guy who served our drinks and cleared our table. I appreciate the friendly guys at the buffet area. Thumps up for this guy who personally approached me as soon as the tempura was refilled.

I'm not sure if anyone notices, but some of the staff don't wear their Japanese robes as neatly as resto staff should. I prefer that they wear shirts instead, like the Yabu staff.

Aside from the Japanese and Korean selections, they now have some Chinese dim sum.

For desserts, I helped myself with scoops of ice cream, buchi, mini cheesecakes, leche flan, and other pastries. I'm okay with dessert as long as I have ice cream, but I'll happily skip the pastries the next time.

Yakimix is perfect for people with huge appetites (like me). However, I wasn't just paying for food, but for the whole experience. The buffet price isn't cheap so I was expecting service as grand as their chandeliers. Apparently, I didn't get that. I do hope that this is an isolated case. It would be sad if this resto isn't taking customer service very seriously, considering that they have lots of branches at prime locations.

Would I give Yakimix another try? Maybe next year. But it would take a lot of convincing.

Buffet prices:

Weekday (Mon-Fri)
Lunch - Php 520
Dinner - Php 620

Weekends (Sat-Sun) & Holidays
Lunch & Dinner - Php 660

Kids Rate (Children below 4ft) - Php 380

  1. Maybe the staff was just having a bad day. I dunno, but I do hope too that this wasn't always the case. I have yet to try Yakimix. The price always puts me off, I find it too expensive, but then again it's buffet so it's understandable.

    1. I really hope it's just a bad day for the staff. The price is another factor that's why I'm expecting good service.

  2. For buffet, Yakimix is not that expensive compared to some. Hmmnnn... Too bad your experience wasn't that great... Naku I'm sensitive pa naman sa customer service...

    1. Yes, Yakimix has the same rate as Sambo but Yakimix already has unlimited drinks included.

I can be quite considerate when it comes to service but I can't help comparing it to other restos where I pay the same price, whether buffet or not.

  3. Hmm did you eat dinner or lunch? Perhaps they were already tired from working all day.. hehe :)

Try sambokojin (if you already did, try it again hehe)

    1. Dinner. I've been to Sambokojin several times. Actually, we were supposed to have dinner at Sambo but decided on Yakimix because of the accessibility.

    1. Anong resto yan? Paki PM naman sa kin.hehe. :)

That's another point. Since maraming kalaban, dapat mag-improve pa sila. :)

  5. I find it weird that you were joined by another group at the table, I've never had that experience in any buffet before. And that's the same kind of service I got when I went to greenbelt a few months ago. At least it looks like yakimix is worth another go with unlimited drinks added and new dim sum items.

    1. That's sad to hear. Might be, but I'd rather try other buffet restos. :)

    2. Ah true, there's so many other buffets but I think I'll give yakimix one more chance but not anytime soon hehe. Sambokojin is still my favorite but I just ate there last month so I guess I'm going to look for other buffets first :D

  6. I've only tried Yakimix once and I immediately gravitated towards the pastries section too XD They have a LOT!!

Try Seoul Garden (SM North Annex), they have more meat selections. It's more affordable too. But they definitely need to update their pastry section, last time I was there, they only have halo-halo. :3

  7. I noticed it too - the staff do seem lousy, in terms of how they looked in their uniforms and with just how they were. They gave the impression that they were tired and would rather nap. Or maybe I was just being to observant :)

I love desserts but i wold skip their choices of dessert - somehow the pastries all taste bland.

    1. The way they wear their uniforms just bothers me that I have to mention it here. Yes, they looked bored, sleepy and hungry. :|

That's why I stick with ice cream. :)

  8. aw. that's sad Ate Michy. Pero hindi natin masisisi yung mga staffs, baka may pinagdadaanan sila :P Yet they should separate work from personal stuffs. And yes, I'll be agreeing about the staffs of Yabu, nothing else I can say (just count my thumbs cause they're all up!).

Parehas tayo Ate, I'm satisfied basta may scoop ng ice cream :D

  9. Sad to hear about your experience. Maybe they were tired lang. But all the same, should still have acted more professionally. I still haven't tried Yakimix. Maybe when we go home again. =)

  11. There's a new branch in Robinsons Place Ermita. And I was supposed to dine there this lunch time. But sadly, I can't use my ensogo coupon (I wasn't able to read the fine print).

  13. Sad naman ng experience. I hope nabasa na nila nito para ma fix agad,sa mahal ba naman ng price.

  14. I'm very much happy that I didn't choose to dine here. Sobrang mahal kasi talaga siya for me, tapos this is what I'm only getting. :/

  15. Okay. I'll be honest I happened to read this post only because of the 2nd anniversary giveaway. I supposed to dine at Yakimix before but the list is too long so ended up on the Mongolian something in MOA ('cause there just beside one another) Anyway I'd like to try Yakimix-Podium since it is the nearest Yaki at my place but this is the 2nd time I heard something not great about them that made me decide not to pursue it rather go to another Yakimix branch (MOA might be) or best Tramway since it is nearer at my place now. I happen to appreciate such blog since it is informative (though subjective) but still is gives a reader like me some insights. So thank you and I should read more haha.

  16. Thank you for the information about Yakimix, at least i have a bird's eye view of their menu. I would like to dine there next month on my birthday, with my husband and kid, at least I already know the budget to prepare and what to expect. Since you have a not-so-good experience with the Yakimix Branch where you dined in, so we'll try the one at Greenbelt instead...We hope we'll enjoy our lunch there soon! :-)

  18. Sorry to hear about your experience. I've tried Yakimix Greenbelt branch and the staff was so nice and accomodating.

I hope you'll do a review about Spiral? They said that Sofitel Spiral was the best buffet in Philippines. I wanna try but very expensive.
