Datu Puti Adobo Movement Final Challenge at the Mercato Centrale BGC

Adobo is a staple at home, and we really love my mom's version of adobo: a bit sweet, meaty and saucy adobo. I believe that adobo is the most flexible Filipino dish as it can be cooked in any style yet it will always be recognized as adobo.  The Adobo Movement was launched in 2015 to push for Adobo to be our national dish. Each home, each province, and each region has its own adobo. This movement is also supported by partners Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement (PCHM) and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).  The Adobo Challenge To get people more involved in the Datu Puti Adobo Movement this 2016, the advocacy group mounted the Datu Puti Adobo Challenge and gathered Mercato Centrale’s veteran home-based cooks to create their own special Adobo dish.  Participating food vendors of Mercato Centrale prepared adobo dishes using any type of meat and vegetable, and were marinated in or cooked with at least two of the three main Datu Puti

A New Hangout in Tomas Morato: Cafe I Am Here

My foodie friends and I were in Morato area and decided to have coffee and desserts and we ended up checking out this newly-opened Korean-inspired cafe named Cafe I Am Here or Cafe I'm Here.  Located at the third floor of the building, Cafe I'm Here is ideal for groups looking for a place to read, study or just hang. However, there are study desks available for people who wants to go solo.  The rule of thumb is to take off your shoes and put it in the shoe racks before sitting at any of the cubicles.

Señor Pollo: More Than The Roast Chicken

I have always been a fan of Señor Pollo's Roast Chicken and its famous chimichurri sauce. However, it has been a long time since I last visited this well-known Latin chicken place. Gladly, I was invited to have dinner at Señor Pollo Makati a few days ago to try their other dishes.  We started with the Crispy Chicken Sisig (Php 260) and Jalapeño and Cheese Quesadillas (Php 133).  Crispy Chicken Sisig Jalapeño and Cheese Quesadillas Easily the winning dish, the Crispy Chicken Sisig is generously topped with crispy chicken skin, onions and lots of chili. You'll definitely want to have this over and over. A simple dish with an amazing punch is the Jalapeño and Cheese Quesadillas, with a slight hint of spiciness combined with cheesiness. I love this!

Where's Marcel?

There is a new coffee shop in Ortigas area called Where's Marcel? at The Pearl Place, which opened a few months ago. My foodie friends and I got to visit this spacious and modern-looking coffee shop for a weekend meetup.  Where's Marcel? is a coffee shop from Australia, with two branches in Melbourne and Sydney. The location in Manila is the third location for the brand. This coffee shop uses Di Bella Coffee, a specialty coffee brand from Australia.  The coffee shop offers free wifi and comfortable seats which makes it conducive to reading and studying.

Affordable and Convenient Seafood Delivery by FreshOnline.ph!

I was recently invited to the launch of FreshOnline.ph , the newest online delivery service that will bring your favorite seafood at your doorstep.  FreshOnline aims to make eating healthy seafood an easy option by working with fishermen and suppliers to source the premium seafood, including the hard-to-find ones.  FreshOnline also dresses, cleans, scales and de-veins the seafood and pack it in cooking-size portions and deliver it to you, ready to cook.  As shared by the founder of FreshOnline, Ms. Eleen Kee, growing up in a fishing town in Malaysia means having fresh seafood to eat everyday. When she moved to the city, she would ask her family to send her fresh seafood that she would share with her friends.  Her love for seafood inspired her to open FreshOnline in the Philippines.  FreshOnline.PH makes quality seafood be made more convenient and also affordable.  During the launch was also the contract signing to sign off the partnership of Fre

Pamana Restaurant in Tagaytay

One of the places in Tagaytay with the boyfie during our last trip is Pamana Filipino Restaurant , one of the most popular restaurants in the area. The reception area on the ground floor serves as a shop for kitchenware. Climbing up to the second floor, we were impressed with the owner's family photos adorning the walls.  We were seated at the veranda, where we enjoyed the picturesque view of the Taal Lake. We arrived in the middle of the afternoon so we were fortunate to have the place for ourselves.

New Location and Amazing Dishes at Vittorio's

There are only a few places that serve delicious yet reasonably-priced steaks in Manila and one of  them is Vittorio's.   A few days ago, I went for lunch with my foodie friends at Vittorio's new home along Scout Borromeo in Quezon City.  The new Vittorio's location is more spacious and homier, where you can hold gatherings like private parties and business meetings.  While waiting for the appetizers, we had our drinks: Chocolate Milkshake (Php 120) for me, and Strawberry Milkshake (Php 120) and Pineapple Milkshake (Php 145) for my friends. For appetizers, we were served the Chop Noodles Salad with Miso Dressing (Php 199) and the Crispy Noodles with Spicy Shrimp (Php 225).
