Dekada Historic Filipino Cuisine, Revisited

I went back to Dekada more than a month ago to have dinner with college friends. Since I have tried their Family Fiesta Platter the last time I visited, we went ala carte this time.

For veggies, we ordered Kempeitai or Gising Gising (Php 168).

Kempeitai

I requested for this dish because it's my favorite veggie dish. I wasn't disappointed with the amount of heat Dekada put in their Gising-Gising. I had to add more rice to tame the heat down.

For other dishes, we had Sizzling Pork Sisig (Php 228) and Gomburza or Ox-Tail and Tripe Kare Kare (Php 348).

I like Sisig, but I was looking for more crunch. I couldn't ask anything more to the Kare-Kare, as it has both the tuwalya and buntot. The sauce was quite thick and flavorful. A must-try when you visit Dekada.

We partnered the hardcore dishes with Dominicano or Adobo Rice (Php 268).

The serving was supposed to be good for 2 to 3 persons, but I think it was more than generous for the four of us.

For drinks, I had my favorite shake, Watermelon Shake, or Cardinal Sin (Php 128) while my friend got Bottomless Dalandan or Marcos (Php 98).

For dessert, we shared a buttery Puto Bumbong (Php 148).

So glad we can have this any day of the year. It was so heavenly! :)

I was amazed that our little feast wasn't as expensive as we expected. The service was as pleasant as my previous visit, and the food was more impressive than the dishes I have tried before. More reasons to go back.

    1. I liked Recipes' version too, but I think your brother will like Locavore's Gising Gising. What do you think? :)
