Tipsy Pig at Capitol Commons

I went for a night out with PEx Gluttony Society one fine evening at Capitol Commons, and since we have been curious with Tipsy Pig for the longest time, we agreed to try it out.

Tipsy Pig Gastropub opened late last year and has been drawing crowds every night. We almost didn't get a table since I forgot to reserve, but gladly, one person in our group is quite early that we had a nice spot for dinner.

While waiting for others to arrive, we started with local and flavored beers with some bar chow. I got myself a Salted Caramel Beer (Php 110).

Salted Caramel Beer

I'm not much of a beer drinker, but I enjoyed the sweet note from the caramel on every sip.

For bar chow, we tried the Kesong Poutine (Php 320) and Belly Good Sisig Tacos (Php 280).

Belly Good Sisig Tacos

Kesong Poutine is their version of Poutine, with fries, gravy, and kesong puti. The serving size is adequate, but I wished it had more kesong puti on it. One of their popular dishes is the Belly Good Sisig Tacos, pork belly sisig wrapped in tortillas with Asian soy garlic sauce. We were truly impressed with it, however, a serving only has 3 small sisig tacos. A hungry girl (like myself) can swallow that in a minute, or maybe less.

For main dishes, we ordered The Triple Chop (Php 310) and the Beer Can Chicken (Php 750).

The Triple Chop

The Triple Chop has three pieces of grilled bone-in pork chop, served with apple chutney and mashed potato. This dish could be shared by 2-3 people, I particularly liked the mashed potato, but the pork chop could use more herbs to make it tastier.

Beer Can Chicken

The most interesting dish we had that evening was the Beer Can Chicken, a whole roasted chicken sitting on top of a San Miguel Pale Pilsen beer can, served with grilled tortillas. What's nice is that the server will prepare this dish tableside. I love how the beer enhanced the flavor of the chicken meat, but the skin had too much pepper rub on it that I had to drink a lot of beer to wash off the pepper.

My friends' daughter joined as we were about to wrap up, and she ordered a Rigatoni Pasta with Spicy Shrimp (Php 260), while our group shared a Lava Cake (Php 180).

Topped with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream, their molten chocolate cake is heavenly. I would surely order this dessert on my next visit.

Tipsy Pig still has a lot to improve on with their dishes, especially the bestsellers. I found some dishes reasonably-priced, while some quite expensive for the serving size. I would love to back to try the pizza and other dishes.

I strongly recommend that you call for reservations at least 2 days ahead to get tables. We were unlucky enough that we had to transfer tables to give way to customers who called for reservations. I wonder what their walk-in/reservation ratio is.

  1. Ohhh... P700+ for a whole chicken is definitely a better deal compared to that place in Shangrila selling 2 pcs of fried chicken for P600.

  2. Tipsy Pig, what a name! I am really curious about that salted caramel beer. I am not a beer drinker actually so I'm not sure if I'm going to like it. I like the play they did with the names of the food, so creative! That sitting chicken should have been named pinaupong manok hahaha...
