Bonding at Jang Ga Nae

Note: This location is already closed.

Escriva Drive is a haven of Korean restaurants in Pasig City. I've visited one of the restaurants, Kimbap Cheonguk, a few months ago, and was planning to try the other restaurants in the area. My friends and I decided to revisit the area and try Jang Ga Nae.

Jang Ga Nae was actually a few meters away from Kimbap Cheonguk, but it was easier to find.

The place was quite full when we arrived, good thing there were 2 tables that were still vacant. The whole restaurant was more spacious than I expected.

While waiting for our orders, we indulged with the banchan!

Banchan Galore!!!

I'm still not familiar with some of the banchan we had, but the dressing on the salad was surprisingly good! And yes, you can ask for a refill too. :)

We ordered Mandu (8 pcs), which we had fried. You can also have it steamed.

Mandu

This is forgettable. I only settled with this because they don't have kimbap. :(

We also had Ra Myun (Php 200) and Tuk Bok Ki (Php 150).

Tuk Bok Ki

Like the other Korean restos I've been, Jang Ga Nae's Ra Myun tasted like instant noodles. The Tuk Bok Ki was quite hot for my tastebuds, and my Tuk Bok Ki-loving friend almost didn't share this. :P

What I really loved was the Jap Che (Php 280)

The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the sweetness of the dish combined well with it. Though I could find Jap Che almost anywhere, I'd definitely go back to Jang Ga Nae just for this.

My friends and I wouldn't miss having a Korean barbecue at Jang Ga Nae, as grilling is their specialty. Each table has an exhaust system however the smell would still stick to your clothes. hehe

For grilled meats, we had Nak Yup Sal or Grilled Beef (Php 500) and De Ji Gal Bi or Grilled Pork Ribs (Php 280).

One of the staff did all the cutting and grilling for us. The grilled meats were also served with lettuce. I kinda forgot to wrap the meats with lettuce since it was so tender. I'd love to try their other barbecues next time.

My friends and I enjoyed our dinner at Jang Ga Nae. We were even surprised that everything was reasonably-priced. Our server/griller was also very accommodating. I'd definitely give this place another visit and try more of what they have to offer.

  6. I kinda have a love-hate relationship with Korean food. But one think I really like is ramyun. I like it sooo very spicy. Maybe because I eat instant Nong Shim ramyun?

Now I kinda miss that ramyun from Sagada.

    2. There's a Korean resto named "Kimchi Restaurant." It has a really cool interior. Rastafari-inspired, with loads of Bob Marley icons and they play Bob Marley music. As for the reason why it's that way, I think you just have to find it yourself so I won't spoil it. Anyway, yeah. Ramyun pretty much tastes like instant noodles for the most part, but theirs are special to me. Maybe because its sheer spice complements the cold weather.

As for Nong Shim, Ministop has it for around 65 bucks for the big cup. So addicted to this... in moderation of course. :)
